Promotional Planning IDEAS Calendar
1-31 – Anti-Boredom Month.
Nearly any activity (notice the “nearly”) can be
shaped into a suitable theme.
1 – “First” Anniversaries.
An impressive collection. Numero-unos today include
U.S. postage stamps (1847); Photos Used in a Newspaper
(1848); American Zoo (1874); and Scheduled TV Broadcast
(1941).
4-10 – Freedom Week.
Always good to celebrate.
7 – Caribbean Day
Honoring that part of the world. Theme promos would
work well.
10 – Don’t Step On A Bee Day
Underlining the importance of not going barefoot
outdoors. Neat link for shoe makers/stores/repair shops;
ditto hosiery.
12
- Cow Appreciation Day. Yeah,
they’re dumb. But they’ve also lent their image to everything
from computer boxes to works of art on the streets of Chicago. Lending a
bovine theme to a promo will almost certainly create attention.
13 – Gruntled Workers Day
You always hear about disgruntled workers. This is
the opposite. Go promo crazy.
15 – St. Swithin’s Day
Supposedly if it rains today, it will continue for
40 days. Interesting tie-in using imprinted umbrellas.
20 – Sir Edmund Hillary – Birthday
Today, it seems everyone with a down parka wants to
climb Mt. Everest. Hillary was the first, in 1953. He
said, “The mountain will always prevail.” A great tie-in
with any accomplishment/achievement theme.
25-31 – National Salad Week
Encouraging more raw-veggie eating. Obvious bridge
with grocers, farms, packers, kitchen-stuff shops
(spinners, tongs, bowls), etc.
31 – Mutt Day
Honoring all those non-pedigreed but lovable canines
out there.
