Promotional Planning IDEAS Calendar
1-30: National Backpack
Safety, Children’s Good Manners, College Savings,
Library Card Sign-Up, Sewing, Coupon and Shameless
Promotion Month. Think of all the inherent promo-ops for
these.
2: Calendar Adjustment Anniversary. Due to the
changeover to the Gregorian calendar, today became
September 14, New Year’s Day moved from March 25 to
January 1 and 1751 had only 282 days. Good for a “huh?”
type promo.
3: Do It Day. Quit putting off whatever it is you’re
putting off and get to it. Good for almost any business
that can contribute to help getting something done.
7: Billy Rose: Birthday. Almost unknown to all but
Broadway fans, Rose was one of the original
cigar-chomping, hugely egotistical, ultra-flamboyant and
highly successful theatrical/film producers,
songwriters, impressarios and general bon vivants of New
York and Hollywood for almost 50 years. His lavish
productions have influenced many. Good for any
theatre-related promo. Born 1899.
7-13: Improve Your Home Office Week. Excellent for
manufacturers and sellers of computers/accessories,
ditto office supplies, furniture, etc.
9: Wonderful Weirdos Day. A day to celebrate those
loveable but somewhat off-center folks in our lives who
provide knowledge, laughter and inspiration.
12: Video Games Day. Saluting those who create, produce,
manufacture, sell and most important, play video games
of all kinds.
15-21: Prostate Cancer Awareness Week. Considering how
curable it is when caught early and how deadly it can be
when not, most men should look into annual checks by age
45. Excellent promo-op.
20-27: Banned Books Week. Underlining the importance of
the freedom to read what we wish and the detrimental
effects of book censorship. Super for libraries,
publishers, bookstores and any other business that wants
to get involved (e.g., art galleries for art books).
22: American Businesswoman’s Day. Saluting women who
help the country’s business engine run every day. And
for those who work too hard or long (men, too), today is
also Family Day.
30: Ruth’s Last Game For The Yankees. Today, 1934, The
Sultan of Swat and New York Yankees called it quits
after 15 years that have since become legend.
Interesting idea for any baseball-themed promo.
