Promotional Planning IDEAS Calendar
January
1-31: Celebrate The Past, Book Blitz. Gourmet Coffee,
Bread-Baking, Creativity, Diet Resolution, Family Fit
Lifestyle and Quality of Life Month. A year’s worth of
advertising ideas, right at the beginning of the year.
1: Z Day. Saluting all those whose name (personal or
company) begins with a Z, which relegates it to the end
of many lists.
3: Memento Mori Day. Worth repeating yet again; it’s
Italian for “Remember, you die.” A day to celebrate
life, emphasizing that our time here is a gift, and we
should treat it accordingly. Interesting for almost any
“beginning a new year” theme.
4-10: National Thank Your Customers Week. No customers,
no company. Something
we can never forget. All kinds of campaigns can
be built around this.
8-14: Universal Letter-Writing Week. Emphasizing the
importance of writing a true letter as opposed to
sending an e-mail. Stationery shops, computer
stores/makers, schools, libraries, etc., can
participate.
13: Clean Off Your Desk Day. Another good one. A day to
toss everything that’s outdated or unwanted. Offices can
promote desk-cleaning contests, offering logoed
organizers or similar items as incentives or prizes.
15: Humanitarian Day. Very simply, a day to help someone
less fortunate. And then promote it.
19: Janis Joplin, Robert E. Lee, James Watt (inventor)
and Edgar Allan Poe: Birthdays. One of those interesting
days when a number of totally unrelated people share
something in common. Offbeat hook to a promo campaign.
21: Rid The World Of Fad Diets And Gimmicks Day. Good
for any natural foods-related firm, as well as a way to
promote healthier eating in general.
30: Fun At Work Day. The name says it all. Any workplace
in existence can be a part of it, with fun (the key
word, remember) activities and prizes.
31: Inspire Your Heart With Art Day. Stressing the
importance of art to us as a society. Galleries and
museums, of course. But almost any firm can get
involved, via fundraisers, contributions, sponsorships,
etc.
